Box

Box

Box lacrosse is a fast-paced, high-intensity version of lacrosse played indoors. Running from April - August the season runs through the summer months with the season concluding at the Ontario Lacrosse Festival in early August.

The Stayner Hitmen offer both Developmental and Rep programming and are fully sanctioned under Ontario Lacrosse Association (www.ontariolacrosse.com). Practices and Home games are held at Eddie Bush Arena in Collingwood, Stayner Arena and Creemore.

Development Programming - Little Shooters

Little Shooters - also known as "Soft Lacrosse" - allows our youngest players to develop a love for the game in a safe and fun environment as players are introduced to basic lacrosse skills through small group instruction and skill building games. Rep Programming

Our Minor Box program starts up in late March/early April. The season will begin with an assessment process where coaches will run players through a series of skills to determine skill level and determine team dynamics. Once all players are. assessed, practices will commence right away followed closely by game play.

Players can expect to be on the floor with the team, depending on coach and team interest, 2-3 times per week, Monday to Thursday. We try to ensure that all teams have the opportunity to participate in 2 tournaments per year. Floor times are typically 6-9pm, with the youngest divisions starting earlier in the evening. Through the season teams will participate in Zone games as well as tournaments (local and. travel). In order to qualify for provincials at the end of the season, each team must have played in at least 10 games (an accumulation of zone, exhibition, and tournament games). Zone playoffs take place in the last couple of weeks in July, and provincials take place in Whitby starting on the Civic long weekend.
